Moving & Handling

As an employer you have a legal duty under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. ( MHOPR1992)

The Regulations define manual handling as:

…any transporting or supporting of a load (including the lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving thereof) by hand or bodily force“.

The load can be an object, person or animal.

The MHOR 1992 set out a clear ranking of measures for dealing with risks from manual handling, these are:

  • first: avoid hazardous manual handling operations so far as is reasonably practicable;
  • second: assess any hazardous manual handling operations that cannot be avoided; and
  • third: reduce the risk of injury so far as is reasonably practicable.

Our courses support the reduction in risk , they are designed for learners who participate in any level of manual handling in the workplace or in their day to day lives.

1 DAY - LEVEL 3 AWARD IN EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE (RQF)
- The course is informative, engaging and makes plentiful use of practical learning. -The trainer has used confidence and charisma to give an informative and entertaining course, using personal experiences and general examples to help provide context to the relevant area. He is also very engaging with trainees, probing us with questions to check understanding and encouraging us to share and give answers to problems. I do however prefer the previous format of learning with the 6 videos from St Johns first aid.
