First Aid at Work (FAW)
This 3 day course is our most comprehensive first aid training course. Learners are able to undertake a requalification course, which they should do within 30 days of the certificate expiring.
Risk assessment should be carried out by the organisation to establish requirement. This course focuses on adult protocols only - trainers can teach child/infant protocols if required, but the student will not be certified in this.

Course Syllabus
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
- Assess an emergency situation safely
- Provide first aid for casualty who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- Provide first aid for a casualty suffering a seizure
- Provide first aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- Be able to place AED pads correctly
- Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
- Manage a casualty with a minor injury
- Be able to recognise a casualty who is choking
- Be able to conduct a secondary survey
- Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
- Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
- Administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
- Explain the factors that affect the severity of burns and scalds
- Administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
- Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
- Administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
