This unique course combines the 2 day Paediatric First Aid and the 3 day First Aid at Work courses, providing you with 2 certificates after 3 extended days' training. This allows delegates to have a comprehensive understanding of First Aid skills dealing with adults, children and babies.
This course is for people working with young children and those working towards an Early Years educator qualification.New legislation from the Department of Education requires all newly qualified level two and three child carers to have either an emergency paediatric first aid or full paediatric first aid certificate. The new legislation comes into effect from the 3rd April 2017. It remains a legal requirement for at least one person with a valid full 12-hour paediatric first aid certificate to be available at all times within a professional child care establishment. This includes cover for sickness and annual leave and to accompany children on trips or excursions

Qualification:
Regulated 3 Year TQUK Level 3/6 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) FAW
Unregulated 3 Year GCT FAW Certification
Regulated 3 Year TQUK Level 3/6 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) PFA
Unregulated 3 Year GCT PFA Certification
Location: We are flexible to meet your needs. We can run this course in one of our venues UK wide or at your workplace for group bookings
Course Duration: 21 Hours (3 days 9-5)
Student numbers: Maximum 12 Students
Student Age: 14+ (accompanied by a responsible adult)

Day 1
<ul><li>Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aiderBe able to assess an emergency situation safely</li><li>Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally</li><li>Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally</li><li>Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking</li><li>Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding</li><li>Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries</li></ul>

<ul><li>Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture</li><li>Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with head, neck and back injuries</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose</li><li>Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant and a child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat or cold</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned</li><li>Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with anaphylaxis</li><li>Understand how to complete records relating to illnesses, injuries and emergencies</li></ul>
